Readers Respond: Top Reasons to Fear (Or Laugh at) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

From , former About.com Guide

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the president of Iran. He can be a loudmouth, a loose cannon, an obscene Holocaust-denier and an advocate for the destruction of Israel. But is he genuinely dangerous? Does the president of Iran wield the sort of power that matches his rhetoric? Constitutionally, no. Realistically, even less. The Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, calls most shots, and all the strategic ones. Still, Ahmadinejad has a way of insinuating himself in the debate over the Middle East's future, whether it's the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, Hezbollah in lebanon or Iran's nuclear developments. How dangerous is he?

unstable tyrant

A sinister and dangerous fool. I cannot decide whether to laugh or cry.

the inscrutable Ahmadinejad

A dangerous idiot. A sinister malevolent character fulll of contradictions. He supports the popular protest/revolt in Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen and Libya. But he is dead against it in Iran itself and in Syria. His rhetoric is self-condemnatory. I am still unable to decide wether to laugh or cry. But what scares me most is his unpredictability and doubtful mental stability. Can't make him out. Can you frisk a wet seal or pin down a mercurial character.

It all depends

Seems to me how Ahmadinejad gets judged depends on what kind of propaganda you want to spin. He can be very useful especially to Israelis needing to rev up the rhetoric.
